Rock Out to Live Bands on New Year’s Eve in Hagerstown

Ring in the new year at The Historic Maryland Theatre with legendary music and a chance to win thousands in cash.

New Year’s Eve is back, baby! If you’re looking for an adrenaline-fueled way to celebrate the new year, New Year’s Eve at The Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown promises an epic countdown with full-volume hits by some of the biggest sounds in rock and roll. Paired with drinks, food, and over $30,000 in Cash Prizes leading up to the lowering of the Cash Bash Ball presented by Los Amigos, and a $20,000 final drawing at midnight, we’re having one heck of a party!

The 2021 event, hosted on Friday, December 31, takes place at the beautifully restored historic Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown. The theme: legendary rock and roll from the ’70s–’80s, kicked off by Jester, a five-man band from Hagerstown known for their big sound and repertoire of fan favorites.

Then, party on to some of the most significant hard rock tunes of the ’80s performed by Nightrain—The Guns & Roses Tribute Experience, a nationally acclaimed Guns N’ Roses tribute band known for their authenticity and showmanship.

Get ready to raise your hands and voices as you ring in the new year to the recognizable riffs of AC/DC performed by Thunderstruck: America’s AC/DC Tribute band. The headliners are known for immersing audiences in an experience that includes authentic vocals, impeccable musicianship, and a stage show complete with smoke and cannons.

Rob Immer, president of Interstate Festival Group and the event’s organizer, expressed his enthusiasm about this year’s celebration: “We held the 2020 New Year’s Eve event online because of COVID-19 restrictions. It was fun but there’s nothing like listening to live music to ring in the new year. We can’t wait to be back together to celebrate in person.”

Cash Bash Live drawings will be held throughout the evening, culminating in a mega $20,000 cash prize. Proceeds from Cash Bash Live benefit the Hagerstown Area Police Athletic League.

Jester | jesterband.net

Regional rock heavyweights Jester kick off New Year’s Eve at the Maryland Theatre with a high-energy setlist of classic and current rock favorites.

Entertaining audiences for over 15 years, band members Butch Barnhart (vocals/guitar), Mark Grove (drums), Jeff Barnhart (bass guitar/vocals), Scott Blake (guitar/vocals), and Eric Schanzenbacher (guitar) have committed themselves to entertain the masses with an energetic stage show and songs geared towards getting fans up on the dance floor and having a good time.

Formed in late 2001, Jester was founded by Butch Barnhart and Rob Richardson, bassist Jeff Barnhart and drummer Pat Henson. After rocking the region for three years the band took a year-long hiatus, regrouping in 2005, replacing Pat Henson with drummer Mark Grove, a mainstay for years in the local music scene.

For the next eight years, Jester brought rock and roll to fans across the region, opening for nationally-acclaimed band Kix and entertaining crowds of up to 10,000 at the Bonanza Extravaganza, a benefit for the IAFF Local 1605 Foundation.

In 2012, the members of Jester planned to retire after three decades of performing— but the band was destined to live on, and in 2014, played a reunion show at Thunder Road Bike Week, adding guitarist and vocalist Scott Blake. In 2019, Jester added guitarist Eric Schanzenbacher, finalizing the immersive live sound Jester fans love.
